My friend Raja is hosting the San Francisco stop of the Monome Community World Tour 2010. Admission is free. Raja has a bar minimum to reach, hint hint.
Daniel Wu Infomercial for “Fresh Air” (Clean Air Network) (via CleanAirNetwork)
I lived down the street from Dan Wu when I was a kid and we both commuted to Head-Royce School in Oakland, CA. Now he’s a huge Hong Kong movie star. Here’s a weird little pro-bono ad he made to promote HK air pollution awareness.
Commodore USA to relaunch Amiga brand with series of AROS desktops — Engadget
My 500 is still gathering dust in my dad’s basement. Those were the happiest computer memories of childhood. Apparently this rebirth of Amiga will actually use a version of the Amiga 3.1 OS. Amazing!
VoiceCentral Black Swan :: Google Voice Client for the iPhone :: Riverturn, Inc.
For anyone using Google Voice with your iPhone, you’re familiar with the lack of a native app. Google has a decent webapp, but despite their best efforts it still feels like a webapp. Pretty clunky.
These guys have done some impressive development to create this super-optimized app that blows Google’s own HTML5 webapp out of the water. Technically it is a webapp, but they’ve leveraged Google App Engine (and I like to imagine they used GAE’s implementation of Django, although I don’t know if that’s true) to handle seemingly all of the data parsing and taking that burden off of the web client (Safari). The result is an app that feels a lot snappier than Google’s webapp and that makes all the difference.
This seriously feels as if it’s a native iPhone app. I’m impressed.
